Is affiliate marketing profitable?
Affiliate marketing is profitable for both advertisers and affiliates. For advertisers you are growing your workforce and increasing your reach. For affiliates you are gaining an income stream.
I won’t pretend affiliate marketing is easy as this would be misleading. If you are an affiliate and your website has a decent amount of traffic it is quite easy to make money from your visitors. There are lots of ways you could monetise your visitors.
How can I make money as an affiliate?
If you are an affiliate and you want to make money there is more than one way to do this. You can use your email database to send your customers relevant offers. You can place banners on your website, which if they are relevant to your site content will generate sales.
One of the best ways to generate sales is to write product reviews and then provide a link to the product. This is because your site visitors trust your opinion and you can get good conversion rates if you write up a good review. You could also create a price comparison site which helps your site visitors to compare lots of products.
Whichever option used there is a need for as many site visitors as possible it’s a numbers game so to maximise your sales a high volume of visitors are needed.
Affiliates generate traffic through online marketing methods such as SEO, PPC and social media marketing. Once the traffic is on the affiliate’s site a number of methods are employed to generate a sale and a commission for the affiliate. These methods include selling the product through a review or using an incentive such as cashback or voucher codes.

Affiliate marketing is excellent from an advertiser’s point of view as you are getting a lot of visibility for your products. As affiliates are paid when they make a sale it can be a very profitable form of advertising.
If however you want your affiliate campaign to be a success you must provide affiliates with as much help and support as possible. The more marketing material such as banners, content and emails you can provide the more collateral affiliates have to promote your company.
